A prayer based on Zechariah 12:10-13:9
O Father in heaven, we worship You as the Creator of heaven and earth. You stretched out the heavens and laid the foundation of the earth. You formed the spirit of man within him.
You showed you grace an mercy to us in your Son Jesus Christ, who gave Himself to
be a ransom for our souls and the righteousness of our redemption. By your Sprit You grafted us into the tree of your church, and You gave us the promise that it will like an immoveable rock for all the nations; it is built on the Rock of your beloved Son, who is the stone rejected by the builders who has become the corner stone. We than You for the promise that You will keep a watchful eyer upon your church. Help us to, with confidence in our hearts, declare the Lord almighty is our God, therefore we are strong.
We pray that today You pour upon the Church of your Son, a spirit of grace and supplication. Make us look upon You and release that we have pierced your Son, and hear our cry for forgiveness. Your Word says we who should morn for Him as one morns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for Him as one grieves for a firstborn. We confess our sin and sinfulness – forgive us Lord.
We thank You, Father, that your Son to us became like an open fountain which cleanse us from sin and impurity. So today, once again we pray that You will banish the names of idols from the land. Purify your church and protect her against false prophets and impurity of worship.
Refine us like silver, and test us like gold. When we call on your Name, please answer us. You declared us your people, and we now answer, the Lord is our God.
In the Name of our Saviour, Jesus Christ we pray. Amen.
