Prayer of Dedication

Our God and Father,

There is a wonderful verse in the Bible which speaks about You who make us worthy of your calling, even fulfilling every resolve for good work and every work of faith by your power.  For this to happen sin must be defeated and a perfect righteousness must be available.  In Christ, You have provided these things for us, and we thank You.  Teach us, by faith, the necessity to be satisfied with only those things which Your promise us in Christ.

Teach us to renounce the pleasures of this world to live holy before You, and to trust You to fulfil your promise, “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8). You said, “It is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.

Teach us to serve You sacrificially and generously, and trust You for the promise that You will supply our every need according to your riches in glory in Christ Jesus.  You promised that “Whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully”.  You can promise these things because the Word assures us that You are able to make all grace abound to us, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, we may abound in every good work.

Lord, teach us to speak out for Christ when the opportunity comes, knowing this promise, “Do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour” (Matthew 10:19).

So, Father, we confess our unwillingness and stubbornness of heart to trust your promises.  Forgive us when we look aside for worldly assurances and carnal desires to satisfy our emotional and spiritual needs.  Increase our faith to believe your precious promises which are true in your Son, Jesus Christ.  Help us to desire the mercy of his inexhaustible, blood-bought, and everlasting grace.

In His Name we pray.  Amen.
